Anne’s Beautiful Caesarean Birth

​Anne’s birth story is a powerful reminder of how self-advocacy and preparation can transform a birth experience, even when plans change. After a smooth pregnancy, Anne’s baby girl, Pip, turned breech at 33 weeks, leading her OB to recommend a cesarean for safety. Initially feeling trapped by the decision, Anne sought help from her hypnobirthing instructor, Kathryn, who introduced her to holistic techniques and tools, including meditation, specific positioning, and acupuncture, to try to encourage Pip to turn. Unfortunately, Pip remained breech, and Anne ultimately accepted the need for a cesarean but aimed to make it as positive and natural as possible.

Just days before surgery, her OB was called away, and a replacement OB dismissed her birth preferences, causing fear and frustration. Turning again to Kathryn, Anne and her husband completed a crash Positive Cesarean Birth Course, which empowered them to stand firm on their birth plan.
